Finding My Voice: The Journey

The Beginning
Like all good stories, one must start at the beginning. My story doesn’t begin with a big marketing campaign or a perfectly planned career path. It starts back in high school, a time when I didn’t quite have the words for what I was interested in yet, but I knew I was drawn to a little bit of everything. Being creative, crunching numbers, and finding out what makes people tick.

Back then, my sixteen-year-old self didn’t know there was a possibility of a career path that ticked all those boxes. And like any young person who didn’t know what they wanted, I tried a little of everything. Sports, Home Economics, Accounting and finally landed on Marketing.

The Middle
With my newfound path, I applied to the wonderful educational institution that is BCIT and started my journey.

BCIT gave me practical skills and a foundation of knowledge to grow my marketing career. As I moved from education to my first marketing role, something just clicked. What I truly enjoyed about marketing was the storytelling element.

Marketing allowed me to be creative, strategic and bold all in one role. From there, my journey was becoming clear. As I built my skills in content creation, digital marketing and brand strategy, I had the opportunity to be a part of a few eye-opening campaigns. One of the most memorable and defining moments in my first role at Place des Arts was being a part of the 50th anniversary campaign.

This campaign allowed me to learn how to turn ideas into actionable results and turn historical insights into meaningful connections. In addition, the anniversary campaign showed me that all good marketing is rooted in storytelling, which brings together a shared community, culture and evokes a feeling of connection.

My time at Place des Arts opened my eyes to the core of my marketing passion and showed me that I had chosen the correct career path.

The Present
Today, I can say that my passion for storytelling hasn’t dwindled but has grown to new mediums and outlets. My main marketing passion is creating engaging digital social media content that resonates with a large, but diverse, demographic and developing strong strategies to execute my creative ideas.

I believe that the best kind of marketing doesn’t feel like marketing. It feels authentic, genuine, and builds a sense of belonging.

I hope that this website, where I showcase my work, ideas, hobbies, passions and ongoing marketing journey, will create a space to communicate, grow and inspire others.
